Is YourTL really free to start?
Yes. On the Free tier, each Standard translation counts toward your allowance: 20 over the lifetime of the account, or the daily Discord community allowance for eligible accounts that link Discord, join the community, and verify membership. The community allowance provides 10 Standard translations and resets once per day. Paid plans include Standard translations without per-chapter metering.
What languages can I translate from and to?
The core web-novel source languages are Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. English or other Latin-script text can also be used when the target is not English. Available targets are English, Spanish, French, and Arabic.
How does the Smart Glossary work?
With entity extraction enabled, imported chapters are checked for characters, terms, and locations. New entries are synced to the project glossary, where translated names and character genders can be reviewed. At translation time, the glossary entries relevant to that chapter are included automatically as guidance.
What is the difference between Standard and Enhanced translations?
Standard is the regular translation mode. Enhanced is designed for higher-quality, more nuanced translation, and each new Enhanced chapter translation uses an Enhanced credit.
Can I translate fanfiction?
Yes. Create a Fanfiction project and select at least one source work. The selected works provide canon context that helps entity extraction prefer established character and setting names, and a project can include more than one source work.
Can I export my translations?
Yes. You can export one translated chapter or several selected translated chapters in a single EPUB file. A successful export uses one Service credit, regardless of the number of chapters included.
How can I import a chapter?
Paste a public chapter URL, upload a TXT or EPUB file, paste the raw text directly, or upload one or more screenshots for text extraction. If URL fetching fails, use a file, pasted text, or screenshots instead.
Can I change a project's target language later?
No. The target language is fixed when the project is created and is shown as read-only in project settings. Create a new project when you need a different target language.
Do I have to review every detected entity before translating?
No. Entity review is an optional project setting. When enabled, it lets you edit translated names and character genders before translation; when disabled, the workflow moves directly from extraction into translation.
Can I edit a completed translation?
Yes. Open the saved chapter, enter editing mode, revise the translated text, and save your changes back to the chapter.
Will my saved translations remain available?
Completed translations are saved with their chapters and remain available from the project's library in your account. This is not a permanent-retention promise, so keep an EPUB copy of work you need outside the service.
What are Enhanced, Action, and Service credits for?
Enhanced credits are used for Enhanced-mode translations. Starting AutoTL Next on a new chapter uses one Action credit, plus the translation itself, per your plan; Action credits also cover Deep Check. A successful EPUB export uses one Service credit. On the Free tier, each Standard translation counts toward the account allowance; paid plans include Standard translations without per-chapter metering.
What does AutoTL Next do?
AutoTL Next starts the next available chapter in the background. Starting AutoTL Next on a new chapter uses one Action credit, plus the translation itself, per your plan. Closing or refreshing the tab stops AutoTL.
Can I continue an interrupted translation?
Yes. When partial progress was saved, Continue Translation resumes from that progress rather than starting from an empty result.
What happens when a chapter is very long?
Very long imports are split into manageable chapter parts automatically. Long translation requests are also segmented internally so the result can continue streaming in smaller pieces.
Are my projects public?
Projects and saved chapters appear in the private project library for your signed-in account. The product does not create public project or chapter pages from your library.
What should I do when a site cannot be fetched by URL?
Some sites use access challenges, anti-bot checks, or page structures that prevent a clean fetch. Paste the chapter text directly, upload a TXT or EPUB file, or import screenshots instead.
Can I change the glossary after a chapter is translated?
Yes. On the Glossary page, existing entries let you update the translated name and character gender. You can also add a new entry with a chosen type, source term, translation, and gender. Updated entries guide future translations; they do not automatically rewrite saved chapters.
What is the Recovery tool?
Recovery is a post-translation tool for a term that was missed by the glossary. Select a translated word, review the likely original source term found from the chapter context, and add the confirmed mapping to the project glossary.
